Air Serbia reveals the plans to launch another three new routes from Belgrade this summer season. According to the website of the airline, the carrier will be launching flights to Amman in Jordan on June 1, flights to Sochi in Russia on June 2 and flights to Lyon in France on June 3.
Flights on the Belgrade - Amman route will be operated four times a week year-round, except in the winter when the route will be served with three weekly flights. Amman flights were originally planned to commence in June 2020, but were postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic. Until 2001, direct flights on this route were operated by its predecessor JAT Yugoslav Airlines.
The flights between Belgrade and Lyon will be operated every Tuesday and Friday starting June 3
On the route between Belgrade and Sochi, the Serbian national airline is planned to operate flights twice a week, providing good connections with Western Europe, which currently has no direct connection to the internationally popular resort on the Black Sea coast. When it comes to flights between Belgrade and Sochi, Air Serbia is in the process of obtaining necessary approvals from the relevant aviation authorities, after which flights will be available for booking.
Among these three new routes, Air Serbia plans to start flights from Belgrade to Trieste, Bari, Rijeka, Valencia, Palma De Mallorca and Bologna this June.
"The decision to introduce direct flights to Amman is a result of the strategic importance of renewing our presence in the Middle East region, while the planned commencement of the flights to Sochi is the result of the significance of the Russian market for Air Serbia and the fact that this tourist destination is underserved with direct international flights. Thanks to extremely successful routes to Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don, we have positioned ourselves as one of the airlines with the largest market share between Russia and the Balkans. We are also focused on strengthening our presence in France, which is why we are launching flights to Lyon, being one of the wealthiest regions in the country and market with great potential. We are happy to be adding these new destinations to our network and looking forward to further expansion in the upcoming period," said Boško Rupić, Head of Sales at Air Serbia.
