Today, at 06:45 on 3 June, Air Serbia commenced direct flights on the new route between Belgrade and Hanover, Germany, with flight JU270, and with flight JU280 at 06:40, it launched scheduled service between the Serbian capital and Lyon, France.
The inaugural flights were greeted with a traditional water salute at Hanover Airport, located 11 kilometres north of the city, as well as at St Exupéry Airport, located 20 kilometres southeast of Lyon. Representatives of Air Serbia and the airport attended the ceremonies marking the occasion.
In addition to Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt-Hahn and Cologne, Hanover is Air Serbia’s seventh destination in Germany, to which flights will be operated three times a week during the summer season and twice a week during the winter flight schedule. Flights to Lyon, the second destination of Air Serbia in France after Paris, will be operated twice a week.
"By launching services to Hanover and Lyon, we will diversify the existing offer for passengers and further strengthen our position in Germany and France, both very important markets for our airline. We are looking forward to expanding the network of new destinations, since in the coming days we will establish flights to another destination in Germany - Nuremberg," said Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial and Strategy, Air Serbia.
As the capital and largest city of the province of Lower Saxony, Hanover is the main point of intersection of the most important railways and motorways. Known as the university, economic, cultural and festival centre of the region of the same name, Hanover attracts visitors with numerous historical sights and tourist attractions, while at the same time carrying the epithet of an important centre of business and trade fairs.
By establishing this service, good connections between Hanover and other cities in Air Serbia’s network will be provided via Belgrade, such as to Athens, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Split, Tirana and Tivat.
Nurturing the spirit of its UNESCO-protected old town, Lyon radiates a rich history and the perfect blend of the Renaissance and the modern. Famous for its culture, architecture and museums, Lyon, with its legendary restaurants rated with prestigious Michelin stars, is also the main gastronomic rival of Paris.
By introducing flights to Lyon, Air Serbia will offer good connections via Belgrade between this city and other destinations in its network, such as Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Tivat.
