Airbus presents the A220 model of airBaltic at Zagreb Airport!


Airbus presented its A220-300 model at Zagreb Airport for Croatia Airlines who is interested in renewing its fleet. The airline previously said that plans a new fleet between 10 and 15 aircraft which will replace their Airbus A319s and A320s. The Airbus A220-300 is a narrow-body aircraft with capacity between 120 to 160 seats and a range of 3,400 nautical miles.


Croatia Airlines said that the A220 aircraft will be perfect for their fleet which will allow them to open new routes with its range enabling the carrier to fly in Europe, North Africa and Middle East.


airBaltic is the largest operator of the Airbus A220 aircraft and was one of the first two airlines to order it. The Baltic carrier currently has 31 Airbus A220-300 aircraft in their fleet and it is the only aircraft model they operate with in whole Europe. Their current longest route is Riga - Tenerife South which takes over 6 hours. They also used the A223 aircraft for Riga - Dubai route which also took over 6 hours. However this route currently is not in operation. The CEO of airBaltic, Martin Gauss which presented one of its Airbus A220 aircraft at Zagreb on 14 September said that Croatia Airlines may has the same benefits from the aircraft as Air Baltic, on both short and long distance routes.
