Bomb threat at Skopje International Airport today. The security team managed to safely evacuate all passengers, crew, staff members and all others that were near the airport building at that moment.
It comes following three months of bomb threats in the primary and secondary schools in Skopje and Kumanovo in Macedonia, as well as in the shopping centers and well known hotels in the city. However, all of the bomb threats are false until now. Just yesterday, there were bomb threats at 49 schools across Skopje and Kumanovo which were sent via e-mail.
"Skopje International Airport, this morning, received a threat for planted explosive device, via email. The information was immediately reported to the Ministry of Interior, while at the same time all personnel and all passengers and/or meters and greeters at the airport were safely evacuated, while units of the Ministry of Interior are conducting an inspection of the airport facilities." - the airport said.
Flights have not been cancelled, but air traffic is currently at a standstill until we receive notification from the Ministry of Interior that it is safe for the airport operations to continue as per regular schedule.
