The Croatian national carrier, Croatia Airlines is in talks with Ljubljana Airport over improving connectivity between Zagreb and Ljubljana according to the aviation news page "Ex-Yu Aviation". The CEO of the airline, Jasmin Bajic said that the city of Ljubljana has potential for Skopje flights since over 40.000 passengers flew between these cities each year before the bankruptcy of Adria Airways in September 2019. There are plans for Skopje - Ljubljana - Zagreb route with Q400 aircraft which will re-connect Skopje and Ljubljana after two years and will make air connection between Ljubljana and Zagreb,
“It is no secret that we are working on having at least one of the EU airlines set up a smaller base at the airport. We believe this would be the fastest and most effective way to improve our country’s air connectivity” - The General Manager of Ljubljana Airport said.
Croatia Airlines was in talks with the Slovenian Government last year over opening a small base at Ljubljana with one Bombardier Dash-8 aircraft. “Croatia Airlines is potentially interested in establishing flights from Ljubljana Airport in order to enable passengers from Slovenia to connect to European destinations” - the carrier said.
