The Saudian low cost private airline Flynas has touched down in Tirana last Monday. As of June 14, the carrier operates three times a week on the route Riyadh - Tirana, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with Airbus A320 aircraft. The aircraft of the Saudi airline was welcomed to Tirana International Airport with a water salute. The flights on this route will operate during the summer season only, until September 3. Flights for the next year are yet to be scheduled.
Chief Executive Officer of Tirana International Airport Dr. Constantin von Alvensleben stated: “The route is great news for both countries because will boost tourism and strengthen the economic ties for business passengers. The airport is being more vital these days and this is a hopeful step for new progress for all travelers and Albania as well”.
Commenting on the start of flights Mr. Stefan Magiera, Chief Commercial Officer of flynas said “We are pleased to launch our first direct to the city of Tirana, which will be from Riyadh City starting from 14th of June. We believe that Tirana is going to be the preferred destination for tourists from Saudi Arabia knowing that there is no Visa for Saudis to visit Albania. We appreciate the efforts and collaboration of Tirana International Airport with flynas in achieving the shared goals for this destination for continues to open up to tourism”.
"The health and safety of tourists and Albanian citizens have always been paramount and the resumption of the tourism industry was only given to the right measures taken from the government and the will of all of us to boost tourism and make Albania as it is, open and a marvelous hospitable country. We wish flynas a lot of success on this new route" said the General Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Mr. Adrian Kamenica.
Ural Airlines operated the first commercial flight from Moscow to Tirana last Sunday, June 20, bringing the first 200 Russians in Albania. The Russian private airline named Ural Airlines will operate once a week from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Tirana. The flights will run every Sunday with Airbus A321 aircraft.
"The airport is coming to life and this is an important fact for all of us. Tourism is one of the most important pillars of Albania's development and TIA is giving its contribution, together with partners and tour operators to increase the number of visitors in the country. Very soon, the charter tourist flight with St. Petersburg will be established", said the Chief Executive Officer of Tirana International Airport, Dr. Constantin von Alvensleben.
"Tonight I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to all those who participated in the re-establishment of tourism links between Russia and Albania: the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of Albania, Rostourism (Russian Tourism Authority), the civil aviation authorities of "of the two countries, tour operators and diplomats of the two Embassies in Tirana and Moscow, who were involved in the implementation of this project. I hope that tourism will give a positive impetus to the development of Russian-Albanian cooperation in other areas," said Mr. Sergei Lysikov, Ministerial Adviser of the Russian Embassy in Tirana.
