Lufthansa has been forced to suspend nearly all of their flights today, 27th of July 2022 due to a ground staff strike at Frankfurt Airport. Over 1 000 flights of the German national carrier are canceled today form both hubs in Frankfurt and Munich which is affecting over 130 000 passengers.
The strike will end on Thursday morning 06:00AM. The airline will return to negotiations with the Verdi union on August 3rd and 4th for further pay negotiations regarding the 20,000 striking members. If an agreement is not reached at this time, further strikes could be announced by the union and its members.
This strike is also affecting the flights of Lufthansa as well as Croatia Airlines between Germany and the Balkan. Croatia Airlines has also been forced to cancel three flights from Zagreb to Frankfurt and two from Zagreb to Munich, one from Split to Frankfurt and Munich and one from Dubrovnik to Frankfurt today. However, this is not affecting the four flights of Air Serbia to Frankfurt, Berlin, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf, neither the flights of Bulgaria Air from Sofia to Frankfurt and Berlin. Air Montenegro is not affected as well as the airline does not operate flights to Germany on Wednesdays. Wizz Air, Eurowings and Ryanair are not affected.
Lufthansa canceled three round-trip flights to each Ljubljana, Zagreb and Belgrade, two of which are from Frankfurt and one from Munich, one round-trip from Frankfurt to each Sarajevo, Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar and Rijeka, one from Munich each to Pula, Tirana, Split, Dubrovnik and Zadar. Two return flights are canceled between Frankfurt and Tirana, as well as four round-trips from Frankfurt to Sofia and two from Munich to Sofia.
