Launching Belgrade - Ohrid flights that will operate twice a week and would run as seasonal, was the focus of the meeting in Belgrade of the director of the Agency for the Promotion and Support of Tourism of Macedonia Ljupco Janevski, with the State Secretary Žikica Nestorović at the Ministry of trade, tourism and telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia and Bosko Rupic, commercial director of "Air Serbia".
Janevski participated in the working meetings in Belgrade, within the framework of the Conference "New ideas for new times", organized by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia, for the joint definition of the strategy and the way of presenting the regional tourism potential, as a complement to the initiative "Open Balkans".
- A 100 percent increase in the number of tourists from Serbia who visited Ohrid was also observed in the first quarter of 2022 compared to 2021, also the number of overnight stays has grown significantly, Janevski said. He added that regional cooperation is a prerequisite for the development of the tourism industry, and with the "Open Balkans" initiative, the borders are being moved and it is becoming a destination of 15 million domestic tourists, which is a serious investment opportunity. Tourism, he pointed out, should also be perceived as a generator of establishing trust, cooperation, economic recovery and good neighborly relations in the region.
Air Serbia previously operated between Belgrade and Ohrid in 2012 and in 2015, both times the flights went terminated.
