Skopje Airport to complete runway rehabilitation today!

Skopje International Airport will finish the rehabilitation work on the runway today at 17:00h. The construction works for the runway rehabilitation at Skopje International Airport started on 28th March and since then the flight timetable has been changed, i.e., flights operated between 17:00h–09:00h, every day, while between 09:00h–17:00h there were construction works on the runway.

Skopje International Airport runway is 2.950 meters long and 45 meters wide, and this runway rehabilitation project is the first one after the runway reconstruction of Skopje Airport runway back in 1996, when Skopje Airport was completely closed for air traffic for 2,5 months and the air traffic was transferred to Ohrid Airport.

“This major investment project is completed after 62 days of construction works for renewal of the asphalt of Skopje airport runway. In TAV we are satisfied and confident that successful completion of project of this kind for the first time since the runway reconstruction in 1996 would provide increased airport services quality. We would like to thank to all concerned parties and stakeholders since we truly appreciate their collaboration, support, and contribution”, stated TAV Macedonia General Manager, Metin Batak.

As of tomorrow, LOT Polish Airlines will resume the flights from Warsaw to Skopje. They will run six times a week, every day except on Mondays with Embraer E190 aircraft. Wizz Air will change the schedule on most of the flights from Skopje as of Monday, 30th May. The airline will operate up to 30 flights per day to and from Skopje base with five Airbus aircrafts. The flights to Bremen, Budapest, Bologna, Vaxjo and Malta will be resumed and the operations to Turin will be launched. easyJet will also resume the flights from Geneva to Skopje on 1st June and will operate every Monday and Friday before increasing them on four times a week in July.
