The Greek carrier SKY Express will launch winter seasonal flights from the capital of Greece to Sofia. The carrier will commence Athens - Sofia service on 2nd November of this year. Flights will be operated five times a week, every day except on Tuesdays and Saturdays. ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft will be used on this route with capacity of 72 seats in single class configuration with 29-30 inches of legroom. SKY Express will directly compete with Aegean Airlines on this route.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the ATR aircraft will depart from Athens to Sofia at 07:45 local time and will arrive at the destination at 09:30. The return flight on these days will depart from Sofia at 10:05 and will arrive back in Athens at 11:40. On Fridays and Sundays the plane will depart from Athens at 18:00 and will arrive at Sofia at 19:45. From there, it will depart back to Athens at 20:20 o'clock and will arrive back at its base in Greece at 21:55 local time.
Sofia is one of the three new routes that SKY Express will launch, along with Munich and Milan Malpensa this winter. The airline operates with a fleet of one A320, eight A320neo, four ATR42-500, five ATR72-500 and six ATR72-600 aircrafts. It is well known carrier for domestic flights in Greece and has started international service from Athens to London Heathrow, Brussels, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Rome Fiumicino and Larnaca since the Airbus A320neo aircrafts were added to the fleet.
