Sofia Airport welcomed 560 153 passengers during June this year representing a decrease by 11,3% if compared to the same month in 2019, before the pandemic when 631 808 passengers were handled. If compared to June 2020, there is an increase by over 290% as 143 336 passengers were handled at that time and an increase by 102,9% if compared to the same month last year when 276 031 passengers were welcomed at the airport.
4,881 aircrafts movements were handled in the first half of the year. That’s a decrease of 11% from June 2019, when the number was 5,482.
Passenger growth in the summer months is to be expected, but Sofia Airport is concerned about the increasing number of Covid positives in Bulgaria and Europe. This is the reason for the uncertainty about traffic in the fourth quarter of the year, the airport said.
