The Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski hold talks with the Prime Minister of Bulgaria - Kiril Petkov yesterday over improving the cross-border cooperation between the two neighboring countries, among which is the launch of direct flights between the Macedonian and Bulgarian capital. The Bulgarian Prime Minister arrived at Skopje International Airport yesterday directly from Sofia with Airbus A319 aircraft of the Bulgarian Government. The flight took some 25 minutes.
The next thing that the two countries will have to do is finalize the agreement on cross-border cooperation for the period 2022-2029, within which is the opening of a new direct route between Skopje and Sofia. The exact specifications should be made in a month, and the introduction of a direct route Skopje-Sofia is expected in 60 days.
Three carriers can operate flights between Skopje and Sofia, such as Wizz Air which holds bases in both cities, Bulgaria Air which is the Flag carrier of Bulgaria or Gullivair which is also a Bulgarian carrier.
