Yesterday, Austria sent support to North Macedonia, which includes 114 firefighters who are part of firefighting teams at several locations in the country.
The firefighters were sent to Skopje with a direct charter flight from Vienna operated by Austrian Airlines on Sunday mid-night. The airline used an Airbus A320 aircraft for this flight. Among this flight, Austrian Airlines operated its regular evening rotation from Vienna to Skopje with Airbus A321 aircraft. Both Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft departed at 04:30AM from Skopje back to Vienna on Sunday morning.
The CEO of Austrian Airlines had an announcement on this topic yesterday - “Boundless solidarity. Last night, a team of 114 firefighters left for Skopje on a spontaneously organized flight. Volunteers from Lower Austria and Styria will fight the terrible fires in Northern Macedonia, he wrote on the LinkedIn network. I am honored that Austrian Airlines can contribute by supporting this special rescue team. All the best for this important mission.“
