Two Balkan countries close their airspace to Russian aircraft!


Slovenia and Bulgaria has closed their airspace for Russian aircraft this morning. This will affect the flights of Aeroflot from Moscow to Ljubljana and Sofia which are now canceled until further notice. Rossiya Airlines has also suspended the flights from Saint Petersburg to Ljubljana until further notice. Bulgaria Air canceled the flights from Sofia to Moscow as well.

Among Slovenia and Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland have also closed their airspace for Russian aircraft, most of them announced this earlier today.


Russian aircraft can still fly over Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belarus and Spain. Changes remain possible.


Yesterday, the flight from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Athens lasted five and a half hours due to the closed airspace over Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia and Lithuania.
