Wizz Air cancels hundreds of flights from the Balkan!


Wizz Air has been forced to cancel hundreds of flights from the Balkan for the period July - September / October due to a lack of crew, something which many carriers are currently facing across the continent. The airline completely suspended the flights on eight routes from Ohrid, Pristina, Belgrade, Tuzla, Sofia and Plovdiv and has reduced the operations on many others.


This is affecting four routes from Macedonia. The flights from Skopje to Basel are reduced from 10 to seven times a week i.e. the second daily rotations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are removed until 5th September, followed by Skopje - Gothenburg which is reduced from four to three times a week and currently run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday while the rotations on Sunday will return on 11th September. The flights from Skopje to London Luton are also reduced from five to four times per week and operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday while the Thursday rotations will return on 27th October. Wizz Air decided to completely suspend the flights from Dortmund to Ohrid until 2nd September. Once the route is resumed. the flights will operate every Monday and Friday with Airbus A320 aircraft.


Three destinations to Pristina are affected as well, two of which are completely suspended. Dortmund - Pristina service is suspended until 2nd September and once it is resumed it will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Rome Fiumicino - Pristina flights are suspended until 2nd October and will operate every Wednesday and Sunday once resumed. London Luton - Pristina route is also affected, i.e. the flights are reduced from daily to 5/6 times per week and are operating every day except on Wednesday until 26th October with exception of the flights on 23th July and 6th August ( both on Saturdays ) which are also canceled.


11 routes are affected from the big Tirana base. The flights to Billund are reduced from twice to once per week and operate every Sunday until 7th September when the rotation on Wednesdays will return. To Berlin, the carrier operates four instead of five weekly flights, every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until 11th September when the Sunday rotation will be resumed. Tirana - Cologne service is reduced from three to two times a week until 7th September as well. The flights to Dortmund are reduced on four weekly and operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Another, fifth weekly rotation on Thursdays will be resumed as of 3rd November. Milan Malpensa route is reduced from 14 to 13 times a week with the second rotation on Tuesday to be returned on 6th September. Services to Bologna, Treviso and Verona are reduced from daily to six times a week with the flights on Saturdays until 10th, Sundays until 11th and Fridays suspended until 9th September each. Two round-trip flights are canceled on the route Abu Dhabi - Tirana on 3th and on 10th of August, both of which are on Wednesday. Tirana - London route is the last one to be reduced, from 20 to 14 times a week until 1st November.


Wizz Air decided to reduce the flights on one route from both Nis and Podgorica. The flights to London Gatwick are reduced from four to three times a week and operate every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday until 13th September when the Tuesday rotation will return. Vienna - Nis flights are cut from three to two times a week until 7th September and operate on Mondays and Fridays.


Six routes are affected from Belgrade base. The services to Billund are completely suspended until 31st October. Dortmund is reduced from five to only once a week, every Wednesday until 1st September. Malmo is reduced from four to three times a week until 11th September, Stockholm from three to twice a week during the period 22.09 - 03.11. One round-trip flight to Abu Dhabi is also canceled on 4th of August while London service will be reduced from five to four times a week during the period 04.08 - 25.08 i.e. all flights on Thursdays during this period are canceled.


Two routes are reduced to each Split and Dubrovnik. Rome - Split is reduced from four to three times a week until 11th September and Rome - Dubrovnik from three to two times a week until 21st September. The flights from London to Split are reduced on six times a week until 5th September and to Dubrovnik on three times a week as of 26th August until the end of the schedule.


Five routes are affected from Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of which is completely suspended. The flights from Sarajevo to Copenhagen are reduced on three times a week and operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday until the resumption of the Saturday rotation on 10th September while the flights to Cologne are reduced on once per week and operate every Wednesday until 5th September when Monday and Friday rotations will be resumed. From Tuzla, Wizz Air has suspended the flights to Milan Malpensa until 30th October and will operate on Thursdays and Sundays on this route once it is resumed. The flights to Malmo are reduced on twice a week and operate every Tuesday and Sunday until 10th September when the Saturday rotation will be resumed. The flights from Banja Luka to Malmo are also reduced from three to twice a week until 7th September.


Wizz Air cuts the flights on six routes from Sofia base. It reduced Paris Beauvais service from four to three times a week until 2nd October, Bari service from three to two times per week until 3rd November, Milan Bergamo from daily to six times a week until 1st October, Bratislava from three to twice a week until 27th September and London Luton from 17 to 16 times a week until 27th September. Meanwhile, the flights to Abu Dhabi which operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays are completely suspended until 6th September.


One route is affected from Varna base. The flights to Frankfurt Hahn are reduced on twice a week and operate every Monday and Friday until 7th September when the Wednesdays rotation will be added again.


Two routes are touched to Plovdiv, one of which is completely suspended. The flights to Dortmund are canceled until 4th September while the services from London Luton are reduced from three to twice a week until 20th October.


Wizz Air has made changes in the schedule for all Balkan routes except Kukes and their seasonal base in Burgas which are expected to continue with normal operations.
