The low cost carrier Wizz Air was forced to delay the resumption of the flights on a few routes from its base in Skopje, after the airport announced a delay of the finishing the runway reconstruction process.
Skopje Airport started the runway rehabilitation on 27 March and expected to finish it on 16 May. As a result of this, the airport is closed for traffic every day between 09.00am and 17.00pm, unabling Wizz Air to operate five flights during the afternoon every day.
According to the airport, the reconstruction process is now expected to be finished on 28 May, which is 12 days later then previously planned.
As a result, Wizz Air delayed the resumption of the flights from Skopje to Bremen until 30th May, to Budapest, Malta and Turin until 1st June and to Vaxjo until 2nd June. All of these routes were previously expected to be resumed on 23rd May.
