The fastest growing airline in Europe Wizz Air has deployed its fifth Airbus aircraft at Tirana base this week, representing its biggest ever network in Albania. The fifth aircraft of Wizz joined Tirana base on August 1st and it is deployed to operate flights on the new routes to Cologne and Barcelona which were announced in early July.
The aircraft is a variant of the Airbus A321 with 5 flight attendants and capacity of 230 seats arranged in 39 rows in a single class configuration. This is fourth Airbus A321 aircraft to operate from Tirana base together with one wet-leased Airbus A320 aircraft due to the lack of cabin crew this month.
Wizz Air operates two weekly flights to both destinations, every Thursday and Sunday to Cologne and every Tuesday and Saturday to Barcelona El Prat.
Among these two new routes, Wizz Air has increased the number of weekly rotations to several routes after the fifth aircraft was deployed:
Tirana - Milan Bergamo is increased from 7 to 11 times a week;
Tirana - Bologna is increased from 5 to 7 times a week;
Tirana - Brussels Charleroi is increased from 2 to 3 times a week;
Tirana - Dortmund is increased from 3 to 5 times a week;
Tirana - Genoa is increased from 2 to 3 times a week;
Tirana - London Luton is increased from 10 to 12 times a week;
Tirana - Milan Malpensa is increased from 12 to 14 times a week;
Tirana - Pisa is increased from 4 to 7 times a week;
Tirana - Turin is increased from 2 to 3 times a week;
Tirana - Venice Treviso is increased from 5 to 7 times a week.
Wizz Air opened six other routes from Tirana to Stockholm Skavsta, Malmo, Ancona, Rome Champino, Genoa and Pescara earlier this year.
There is another new route that the airline recently announced, Abu Dhabi - Tirana which is expected to start on 11 September and operate from Abu Dhabi base.
