Wizz Air has launched the flights from Sofia to Saint Petersburg this afternoon. The route was firstly announced in January 2020 and was scheduled to start in July last year. However, the flights had been delayed several times since then with the last delay for 29 March 2022. Although the route was planned to start next year, the airline decided to bring forward the launch date for 15 December this year. The flights will operate every Wednesday and Saturday during the winter season and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as of the next summer season. Airbus A320 aircraft is deployed to operate to Saint Petersburg with exception for today's and the flight on Saturday where an A321 aircraft is deployed. This is first route of Wizz Air between Sofia and Russia.
