Wizz Air has put two routes from Skopje and one route from Ohrid on hiatus before the end of 2021. The airline has no longer scheduled any flight from Skopje to Larnaca and Barcelona El Prat as well as from Milan Malpensa to Ohrid.
Skopje - Larnaca route was launched with the last expansion of Wizz Air before the start of the pandemic in 2019 together with three other routes: Bremen, Karlsruhe / Baden - Baden and Turku. Since then, two weekly flights were operated with Airbus A321 aircraft during the summer and with A320 during the winter season. The flights have been suspended since March 2020. There are no further flights on this route and it is possible that the route will be terminated.
Skopje - Barcelona El Prat route was launched several years ago and it was the first route of Wizz Air from Ex Yugoslavia to Spain. It is also the only route which connects Macedonia and Spain. The route was operating two times a week ever since, even during the pandemic. The flights on this route were resumed again in late December 2021 and were scheduled to operate twice a week during the holidays only and again as of late March. The last scheduled flight on this route is this Saturday, 8 January. There are no further flights on this route and it is unknown if it is going to be terminated.
Milan Malpensa - Ohrid route has not been in operation since the start of the pandemic and was the first one to be suspended in March 2020. The airline launched this route in 2019 and operated two weekly flights ever since. The route is probably going to be terminated.
Wizz Air has also pushed back the return of the flights from Skopje to Budapest which was scheduled to happen in late March this year. They are now planned for return on 1 November 2022.
Fortunately. the flights to Malta, Bremen and Hannover as well as London - Ohrid remain to be resumed at the end of March this year.
