The low cost carrier Wizz Air has removed the tickets from sale on 22 routes from the Balkan for the upcoming winter-season. This includes routes from Sarajevo, Tuzla, Belgrade, Skopje, Kukes, Tirana, Pristina, Sofia and Varna. We previously noted that the carrier will terminate three routes from Belgrade and nine from Bosnia and Herzegovina, however the airline yesterday scheduled flights on these routes for the next summer-season which means that they will not be terminated.
As of 9th October, Wizz Air will suspend the flights from Sarajevo to Brussels Charleroi, Oslo Torp, Gothenburg and Malmo. These routes will be resumed on 26th March 2023. As of 29th October, the flights to Paris Beauvais, Treviso and Stockholm will be suspended as well and will be resumed on 27th March 2023.
Wizz Air will not terminate Tuzla - Vaxjo service. This route has been summer-seasonal since it has been launched but this season the flights will end a little bit earlier then expected i.e. on 26th August. They will be resumed again on 12th June 2023. Tuzla - Billund service will be suspended on 9th October and will be resumed on 26th March 2023 while Tuzla - Milan Malpensa service will remain suspended until 26th March 2023.
From Belgrade base, the carrier will not operate to Billund, Oslo Torp and Vaxjo during the winter season. The flights to Oslo and Vaxjo will stop on 2nd October and will be resumed in late March next year. Belgrade - Billund service is already suspended until 26th March 2023.
One route is affected from Skopje base. The airline will suspend the flights to Malta on 29.10.2022 and will resume them on 29.03.2023. All other routes from Skopje and Ohrid will remain to operate during the winter.
As previously noted, Wizz Air will not operate to Kukes in Albania during the winter season. The flights on all four routes will be suspended in October and resumed in late March next year.
Tirana - Billund service is the only route affected from their Albanian base. The flights on this route will be suspended on 4th September until 25th September. They will continue to operate until 23rd October and will be suspended again until 26.03.2023.
Pristina Airport will lose its connectivity with Rome Fiumicino during the winter. The flights which are already suspended will be resumed in late March next year.
Wizz Air will not operate from both Sofia and Varna to London Gatwick during the winter season. The flights on both routes will be suspended in October and will be resumed in late March next year. However it will continue to operate daily to London Luton Airport.
No routes have been affected to Ljubljana, Banja Luka, Podgorica, Nis, Ohrid and Plovdiv.
