The low cost carrier Wizz Air has returned the fifth aircraft at Skopje base on 26 March as summer season starts. The carrier is finally operating with the same number of aircraft from Skopje as it did before the pandemic. This time, three of them are Airbus A321 with 230 seats capacity and the other two are Airbus A320 with 180 seats capacity. The airline has also resumed the flights from Skopje to Turku, Billund and Rome Ciampino last week. The flights to Malmo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Berlin, Memmingen, London and Basel are also going to be increased on the pre-pandemic levels.
As the airport of Skopje is doing reconstruction of the runway every day from 9 to 17 o'clock until 17 of May, Wizz Air can operate to a total of 10 routes per day from Skopje. All five aircrafts depart between 7 and 8 o'clock in the morning and return back after 17 o'clock. Then they depart again to another 5 destinations as usual.
As of 23 May, Wizz Air will resume all of its routes from Skopje base, including Vaxjo, Bremen, Bologna, Malta and Budapest as well as it will launch the flights to Turin in Italy. The carrier is expecting to return the routes which were previously terminated i.e. Barcelona, Larnaca and Hannover and to launch three new routes from Skopje and Ohrid as new deal for subsidies will be reached with the Macedonian Government later this season.
