Wizz Air will downgrade the fleet in Skopje base over winter. The airline has deployed five aircrafts in Skopje since last year, three of which are Airbus A321s and two are A320s.
As of 31st October, only four jets will operate from the base, all of which will be Airbus A320 with 180 seats capacity. It comes after the airline decided to close its base in Sarajevo and significantly reduce the operations from the Balkan.
The flights from Skopje to Turku, Vaxjo, Billund, Turin and Malta are already suspended until the start of the next summer season on 26th March 2023. The operations to many other destinations from the city will also be reduced. The airline will operate daily flights to Basel only, five weekly flights to Dortmund, four weekly to Memmingen, London and Malmo, three weekly to Gothenburg and Brussels and two weekly to all other routes for most of the winter-season. During the New Year holidays, the airline will increase the flights to some routes.
Five planes are planned to be deployed next summer, three A321s and two A320s. Previously, the airline planned to operate with five A321neo aircrafts from Skopje this winter.
