Wizz Air to launch five new routes and to deploy 4th jet at Belgrade base!

The Hungarian low cost carrier has just announced new expansion at Belgrade, Serbia. The airline will be introducing five new routes from the Serbian capital to Copenhagen, Berlin Brandenburg, Zakynthos, Milan Bergamo and Lisbon next summer. Wizz Air will also base its 4th Airbus A321 aircraft at the city, making the operation of four routes at a time possible with 920 one-way seats, or 2760 one-way seats per day if there are 12 daily rotations from the base.

The flights to Copenhagen and Berlin Brandenburg will start on 31st July, and will operate up to four times per week, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday during the summer and the next winter-season.

The flights to Zakynthos in Greece will start on 1st of August and will operate every Tuesday and Saturday until 23rd September.

Operations to Milan Bergamo will begin on 26th September and will operate up to five times a week, every day except on Mondays and Fridays, while the flights to Lisbon will begin on 1st of August and will operate every Tuesday and Saturday during the whole year.

The airline will directly compete with Air Serbia on the flights to Copenhagen and Berlin Brandenburg and indirectly on the flights to Milan Bergamo as Air Serbia operates between Belgrade and the airport of Malpensa in Milan. There is no competition on the flights to Lisbon as Wizz Air will be the only airline to connect both capitals at the moment, although Lisbon is one of the busiest unserved routes from Belgrade. Wizz Air will deploy its fourth Airbus A321 aircraft at Belgrade in late July.

Wizz Air launched flights from Belgrade to Oslo Torp, Vaxjo, Billund, Barcelona and Nice from the Serbian capital in December of last year, however only Barcelona and Nice are still in operation. From their previous expansions, the operations to Hamburg, Heraklion and Rome proved to be successful.
