The Budapest based low cost carrier Wizz Air has signed an agreement with Mostar Airport to launch flights to the city in the summer season of 2023. “Mostar Airport has signed an important agreement with Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing airline, that will enable the introduction of scheduled flights next summer. This will help in connecting Mostar and the entire Herzegovina region with popular European destination and will stimulate economic development and tourism”, the Airport said.
Mostar Airport handled just 32 866 passengers in 2019 while only 1 942 passengers were handled last year, most of which were handled in September - 664. However, the results of this year are improved with 3 458 passengers handled during the January - July period of 2022, most of which or 2 151 were handled in July alone.
Mostar will be the fourth airport in Bosnia And Herzegovina which will be served by the low cost carrier Wizz Air. The airline started its operations to the country with its base in Tuzla in 2015, followed by a second base in the capital of Sarajevo and Banja Luka. A total of four aircrafts are deployed in the country, two Airbus A320s for each Tuzla and Sarajevo base with 180 seats.
