Wizz Air delays the resumption of the flights from Skopje to Bremen. Malta, Bologna, Turin and Vaxjo as a result of a runway reconstruction at Skopje International Airport.
The Airport previously announced that will reconstruct its single runway during the period 28 March - 17 May and as a result of this, the airport will not be working every day from 9AM to 17PM during that period.
Because of this decision, Wizz Air is forced to reduce the operations to and from Skopje, as they will be unable to operate the afternoon flights. Wizz Air has already made changes on the schedule for Skopje base, which includes that the flights to Bremen, Malta, Bologna, Turin and Vaxjo will be resumed two months later, on 23 May.
The airline will resume the flights to Billund, Nuremberg and Turku in March, but they will operate only once a week until the end of May when the reconstruction is expected to be finished. Skopje - Milan, Treviso, Rome, Bratislava and Budapest flights will also be resumed in March and will operate as usual, twice a week.
Wizz Air will operate on 26 routes during the runway reconstruction at Skopje. The aircrafts will operate on two routes per day each. They will depart around 7:30 in the morning and will return after 17 o'clock. Then, after 45 minutes turnaround, they will depart again for their third and fourth sector and will return in Skopje around 1 o'clock after mid-night.
The airline still plans to increase the flights to Brussels Charleroi, Frankfurt Hahn, Hamburg, Cologne, Gothenburg and Malmo on three times a week, to Dortmund, Memmingen and London Luton on five times a week as well as to Basel on seven times a week on 28 March.
The flights to Copenhagen and Berlin will be increased on three times a week, to Gothenburg will be increased on four times a week, to Malmo on five times a week and to Basel on 10 times a week after 23 May as well.
Wizz Air plans to operate with a fleet of five Airbus aircrafts from Skopje this summer, three of which will be A321neos and the other two will be A320s.
There is no change in the schedule for the routes to Ohrid.
Austrian Airlines has already changed the schedule to Skopje. The airline will operate seven flights a week during the mid-night and early morning as well as seven flights a week between 17 and 19 o'clock, making a total of 14 weekly rotations.
LOT Polish Airlines has also switched the flights between Warsaw and Skopje. The airline will operate to Ohrid instead during the runway reconstruction period.
