Wizz Air to suspend the flights on 57 routes from the Balkan after the New Year holidays!


The low cost carrier Wizz Air will suspend the flights on 57 routes from North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Slovenia and Bulgaria. Most affected will be Ohrid, Tuzla, Skopje and Sarajevo. The airline will suspend most of its routes from mid January ( 10 - 15 ) until the end of February, early March or late March. Some new routes will not even start with operations next month, but in March.



Wizz Air to suspend 16 routes from North Macedonia!


The airline will suspend the flights on 11 routes from Skopje:

  • Billund, 9 January - 27 March

  • Turku, 9 January - 29 March

  • Nuremberg, 9 January - 13 March

  • Bologna, 9 January - 27 March

  • Milan Malpensa, 10 January - 11 March

  • Rome Fiumicino, 8 January - 29 March

  • Oslo Torp, 8 January - 19 February

  • Bratislava, 11 January - 5 March

  • Barcelona, 8 January - 27 March

  • Stockholm Skavsta, 17 January - 28 February

  • Vaxjo, 7 January - 27 March.

Wizz Air will not operate on those 11 routes for some period in the winter season and will reduce some more until late March. Treviso will be the only route in Italy on which the carrier will operate from Skopje during January, February and March, Flights will be available twice a week as of 15 December. The airline will operate one weekly service to Paris Beauvais and Copenhagen and twice to Malmo, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, Friedrichshafen, Brussels and Eindhoven, Memmingen will be maintained three times a week while Dortmund will operate four. Most of the flights will be operated to London and Basel, five times a week.


Basel to remain the only route in operation to Ohrid!

  • Vienna, 14 January - 4 March

  • Dortmund, 10 January - 11 March

  • Friedrichshafen, 8 January - 29 March

  • Memmingen, 8 January - 26 February

  • Malmo, 11 Januart - 26 February

Wizz Air will remain one route in operation to the second airport in North Macedonia, that is Basel. The flights will operate twice a week, every Monday and Friday, London Luton and Milan Malpensa are further delayed until late March 2022.




7 routes to be suspended from Serbia!


Wizz Air will suspend the flights on five routes from Belgrade base:

  • Billund, 12 January - 11 February

  • Hamburg, 15 January - 1 March

  • Barcelona, 12 January - 29 March

  • Gothenburg, 16 January - 27 March

  • Vaxjo, 10 January - 27 March

The airline will not operate on these five routes for some period during the winter in 2022. Among them, Wizz Air will reduce the flights on some other routes, such as Karlsruhe which will operate once a week. The flights to Basel, Paris, Frankfurt, Eindhoven, Gothenburg and Malmo will operate twice a week, while to Dortmund. Abu Dhabi, London Luton and Memmingen they will operate three times a week.


Two routes will be suspended from Nis:

  • Vienna, 14 January - 7 March

  • Malmo, 10 January - 25 February

All other routes to Nis will remain in operation during this period.





Three routes to be suspended from Kosovo!


Wizz Air will suspend the flights on the following routes from Pristina:

  • Karlsruhe, 7 January - 28 February

  • Milan Malpensa, 8 January - 27 March

  • Rome Fiumicino, 7 January - 11 March




2 routes will be suspended to Montenegro!


The airline will suspend two routes to Podgorica:

  • Vienna, 7 January - 29 March

  • Memmingen, 9 January - 2 March




Wizz Air will suspend 16 routes from Bosnia and Herzegovina!


The airline will suspend the following routes from Tuzla:

  • Vienna, 9 January - 2 March

  • Billund, 8 January - 12 February

  • Friedrichshafen, 7 January - 27 March

  • Karlsruhe, 9 January - 28 March

  • Nuremberg, 7 January - 29 March

  • Eindhoven, 9 January - 9 March

  • Gothenburg, 8 January - 26 February


7 routes from Sarajevo:

  • Brussels, 9 January - 27 March

  • Bullund, 7 January - 28 March

  • Paris, 4 January - 28 March

  • Cologne, 8 January - 28 March

  • Frankfurt, 8 January - 26 February

  • Oslo, 9 January - 20 March

  • Malmo, 8 January - 5 March


2 routes to Banja Luka:

  • Basel, 9 January - 20 February

  • Hamburg, 11 January - 28 March

After the routes are going to be suspended, Sarajevo will become the busiest base in the country and will overtake Tuzla until the start of the summer season, However the airline will continue to operate with very reduced flights to both Sarajevo and Tuzla as well as to Banja Luka.




3 routes to be suspended from Albania!


Wizz Air will suspend the flights on 3 routes from Tirana:

  • Oslo, 8 January - 12 March

  • Stockholm, 9 January - 27 March

  • Liverpool, 8 January - 8 March

Wizz Air will suspend two of their new routes from Tirana that are going to be launched next month. Madrid will be the only new route which will continue with operations with out suspension while Billund is previously delayed until early March 2022. All other routes will remain in operation, however some of them will have reduced schedule.




Wizz Air to suspend Brussels Charleroi - Ljubljana route!


The airline will suspend the flights from the capital of Belgium to Ljubljana for the period 7 January - 11 March, London Luton remains to start with operations in mid December and to operate until the end of the winter season with no suspension.




Nine routes to be suspended from Bulgaria!


Wizz Air will suspend the flights on four routes from Sofia:

  • Catania, 8 January - 29 March

  • Malta, 7 January - 28 March

  • Bratislava, 7 January - 29 March

  • Geneva, 11 January - 12 March

and five routes from Varna base:

  • Vienna, 9 January - 29 March

  • Brussels, 14 January - 11 March

  • Prague, 9 January - 27 March

  • Karlsruhe, 9 January - 27 March

  • Nuremberg, 8 January - 27 March

All other routes to Bulgaria including those to Plovdiv and Bourgas will remain in operation, however some of them will run with reduced flights while some of them will continue to operate as they do now.
