Zagreb Airport handles 1.400.000 passengers in 2021!


Zagreb Airport handled 179.582 passengers during the last month of 2021, representing a decrease of 22,2% if compared to December 2019 when the airport welcomed 231.145 travelers. There is also an increase by over 330% if compared to the same period in 2020 when the airport handled only 41.498 passengers.


The number of the aircraft operations during the month of December was 3.218, down by only 4% then in 2019 when the number was 3.351. It also represents an increase by 131% if compared to December 2020.


Zagreb Franjo Tudman Airport handled a total of 1.404.478 passengers in 2021, representing a decrease by 59,1% if compared to the pre pandemic levels i.e. 2019 when the airport welcomed 3.435.531 passengers. There is also an increase by 51,9% if compared to the results of 2020 when the airport handled under a million passengers i.e. 924.823 travelers.


Most of the flights during the year od 2021 were operated by the national carrier Croatia Airlines to Dublin, London Heathrow, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zuirch, Sarajevo, Skopje, Rome, Split, Dubrovnik, Pula, Zadar and Pristina.


Among Croatia Airlines, KLM, British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, Eurowings, LOT Polish Airlines, Windrose Airlines, Nordwind Airlines, Aeroflot, Austrian Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Vueling, Air Serbia, Fly Dubai, Qatar Airways, Ryanair and some others operated to and from Zagreb during 2021.


The busiest international route from Zagreb was Frankfurt with over 4 daily flights operated by both Lufthansa and Croatia Airlines. The busiest domestic routes from Zagreb were Split and Dubrovnik.


The airport in the capital of Croatia was connected with Europe and with the Middle East during 2021, with Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai which operated scheduled flights from Doha and Dubai to Zagreb.
